This is a new manufacturing facility in Midland, MI, that will produce batteries for electric and hybrid automobiles. Steel joists and joist girders were utilized for the support of a very complex layout of mechanical equipment and process piping. 3D AutoCAD drawings of the joists and girders were provided for insertion into a BIM model.

Due to the rapidly changing technology in the electric car battery market the requirements of this facility are changing while it is being constructed. The versatility of the bar joist and girders allow those changes to take place before, during and after the installation of the joists.

The total project required 110 Girders 1831 K joists 112 LH joists.

Medline Distribution Facility

This project is a Distribution Center servicing northern California for Medline Industries, Inc. The project sits on 37 acres & consists of the main warehouse of 1,050,000 square feet & an office area of 24,000 square feet in the Prologis International Park of Commerce in Tracy, CA.

This manufacturing building consists of concrete tilt-up panel construction with approximately 67,200 square feet of roof area with various roof elevations. Open web steel joists were designed to span between panels up to 86 feet long.

This uniquely aesthetically pleasing project uses bowstring joist girders to create a artistic feel to this manufacturing facility. The 110’ bowstring Joist Girders provides for adequate clear space for the operations. The client calls this “industrial art”.
