Description

All too often real word application of project loading is much less uniform in nature than what that loading is assumed to be when analyzing a design during initial specification. Specifying Designers are often faced with the question of whether the steel deck systems they have specified can adequately support loads from solar panels, hanging collateral loads, scaffolding, scissor lifts in combination with the expected uniform live and dead loads. This webinar will help designers to analyze these load considerations that seem challenging at face value by breaking them down into simple static problems that can be easily understood and solved. A designer will have the tools to provide permission and allowances to installers on the front end rather than dealing with the more involved requests for permission or forgiveness on the back end of a project.

This webinar is provided by the Steel Joist Institute in partnership with the Steel Deck Institute (SDI). Participants can earn 1.5 PDHs.

By registering for this webinar, you consent to your name and email address being shared with the Steel Deck Institute for communications in accordance with SDI’s Privacy Policy.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize load distribution and develop “simple” load diagrams.
  • Understand deck limit states under concentrated loads.
  • Review current and expanded SDI design approaches for concentrated loads.
  • Present example problems for design with concentrated loads to better grasp applications of concepts.
