50 North (339 E. Melrose Avenue, Findlay, Ohio)

Since this school, along with many others, was closed for a period during COVID-19, the trustees of this school took advantage of the temporary closing and fast-tracked this 17,000 building addition. The steel “scissor” joists chosen for the structure of the roof, created the aesthetic appearance the architect wanted, provided a cost-effective solution and contributed to the fast-track nature of this project. These 61’0” long joists are 14’-10” tall, from bearing to ridge, and had to be manufactured with a bolted field splice in order to ship to the jobsite.
