This large distribution center utilizes a hybrid steel and wood design, as is typical of many large projects in the Western US. The steel joists were manufactured with a wood nailer installed on the top chord to allow for easy installation of a wood deck system. Any other structural system in place of the steel joists would have been uneconomical. The Joist Girder and LH-Series joists provided a fast, economical system while allowing for wood decking.

This client desired a new structure to be erected over the existing structure that encompassed an overbuild area of 132,500 square feet. In particular, it had to be low maintenance and corrosion-resistant.

This is a new manufacturing facility in Midland, MI, that will produce batteries for electric and hybrid automobiles. Steel joists and joist girders were utilized for the support of a very complex layout of mechanical equipment and process piping.

This project is a Distribution Center servicing northern California for Medline Industries, Inc. The project sits on 37 acres & consists of the main warehouse of 1,050,000 square feet & an office area of 24,000 square feet in the Prologis International Park of Commerce in Tracy, CA.
