Designing with Steel Floor Deck
The Steel Joist Institute and the Steel Deck Institute have partnered to present “Designing with Steel Floor Deck”.
This webinar will expand your knowledge of steel floor deck by introducing you to the manufacturing processes, shapes, properties, finishes and benefits of this product. The basis of this presentation is the recently released First Edition of the Steel Deck Institute (SDI) Floor Deck Design Manual (FDDM). The FDDM is based upon the ANSI/SDI C-2011 Standard for Composite Steel Floor Deck-Slabs and the ANSI/SDI NC-2010 Standard for Non-composite Steel Floor Deck. Both Standards are referenced in the 2015 International Building Code. Various floor deck design considerations will be explored as well as an overall coverage of fasteners and industry construction practices. Participants will gain an in depth knowledge of floor deck as specific tables and examples from the FDDM are examined. Upon completion, you will have increased knowledge of how to design more efficiently with steel floor deck and achieve potential construction cost savings.
Learning objectives:
- Introduce the First Edition of the SDI Floor Deck Design Manual (FDDM) and review its contents.
- Provide an overview of steel floor deck including how it is manufactured, designed, and specified.
- Highlight and explain the Tables and Design Examples included in the FDDM.
- Present options for industry accepted methods of attaching steel floor deck.
