This webinar explores the design, application, and detailing of pitched, radiused, and other specialty profile steel joists, highlighting practical considerations, common challenges, and proven solutions drawn from real-world projects. Whether you’re designing hip roofs, accommodating long spans, or meeting unique architectural requirements, you’ll gain practical guidance you can apply to future projects. The session also introduces the new 500-pound near panel point rule, which will be published in the 46th Edition of the SJI Specifications and applies to both standard and special joist profiles.
This webinar is provided by the Steel Joist Institute. Participants can earn 1.5 PDHs.

Dennis Montgomery, S.E., P.E.
Marketing Engineer – New Millennium
As an engineer at New Millennium, Dennis is a licensed S.E. and P.E. who has served the company’s joist and deck Customers for the past 14 years. He has developed tools and literature for use in the design and specification of joist products and connections. He is currently a member of the Steel Joist Institute Education Committee. Prior to joining New Millennium, Dennis worked as a structural consulting engineer for a variety of residential and commercial buildings.
