ASCE/SEI 7 Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures

January 21

New Reliability-Targeted Snow Loads in 2024 IBC – Learn about the significant changes to the 2024 IBC snow load provisions, as well as how to use the new digital platform and webtool available from ASCE.

This session will highlight the adoption of reliability-targeted ground snow loads (GSLs), including the methodology for developing four new maps for Risk Category I, II, III, and IV. The new ground snow loads replace the 50-year uniform hazard design snow loads that have been adopted by the Codes for decades. This session will also include details on the new winter wind parameter, revisions to the design drift loads, and more. Additional information regarding the new digital platform and webtool available from ASCE will also be presented. This tool was developed to support the full version of ASCE 7-22, easily accessible and free for all users.
